BCCSL - 19 September 2001
The Board of Control for Cricket in Sri Lanka has obtained the services of Mr. Sean Slattery as Physiotherapist for a period of three months, while Alex Kontouri is on leave for a holiday and studies.
A native of Melbourne, Australia, Slattery studied with Kontouri at Latrobe University in Melbourne, where he obtained a Bachelor of Arts in Applied Sciences in Physiotherapy. He did a year's postgraduate studies at the same university.
Slattery is working with the National Team and the Sri Lanka `A' Team. He began work for the BCCSL with the recent 3rd Test versus India, and is expected to remain until after the team returns from the Sharjah Champions' Trophy in November, when Kontouri is scheduled to return.
Slattery, who is 33 year old, operates two physiotherapy clinics in Melbourne, looking after several clubs including Collingwood Football Club (an Australian Rules Football national club), and some local cricket teams. It is his first visit to Sri Lanka.
