Watkinson Appointed Cricket Manager

Lancashire County Cricket Club today announced the appointment of Mike Watkinson to the post of Cricket Manager. This new position replacing the previous one of Head Coach means that Mike will have a greater responsibility for cricket at all levels at the Club than any previous incumbent. Mike takes over this role following the departure of Head Coach Bob Simpson.
After making four test appearances for England in 1995, he went on to captain the double winning Lancashire side in 1996, (his benefit year) and since November 1999 has been Coach/Captain to Lancashire's Second Eleven.
Jack Simmons, Club Chairman commented, 'We looked at several likely candidates but Mike fulfilled the criteria we were looking for and we are delighted that he has accepted the role.'
