Lou Vincent gets Test call-up as Pakistan Test squad is named New Zealand Cricket - 10 September 2001
State Auckland Aces all-rounder, Lou Vincent, has earned selection in the 15-strong CLEAR Black Caps squad named today to contest three Test matches in Pakistan next month. It has been a meteoric rise for Vincent since his One-Day International selection in the third match of The National Bank Series against Sri Lanka seven months ago. He has since played 17 one-dayers, all against India, Pakistan or Sri Lanka, at home and abroad. Other features of the side are the inclusion of Jacob Oram as an all-rounder in place of Dion Nash who is undergoing a managed reintroduction to international cricket; and the return of Adam Parore as wicket-keeper. Glen Sulzberger remains as the second spinner. Shayne O'Connor returns to the side after a knee injury sidelined him for much of the last home season following his tour to South Africa. It is Daniel Vettori's first Test selection in just over a year since he injured his back in the first Test against Zimbabwe in September 2000.
