Pybus predicts one-day series win 8 September 2001
Pakistan cricket coach Richard Pybus was hopeful of Pakistan's victory in the three-match one-day series against New Zealand beginning at the National Stadium, Karachi on Sept 19. Talking to Dawn Friday, Pybus said that New Zealand was a good one-day side but Pakistan the better-prepared. Pybus said that New Zealand had named a young team for the limited- over series making two changes. Wicket keeper Adam Parore and Grant Bradburn replaced by Chris Nevin and all-rounder Glen Sulzberger. Pybus said that training of the probables in the national camp at the Gaddafi Stadium was progressing well and all those who had reported were fit. Out of total 23 probables only three players Shahid Afridi, Saqlain Mushtaq and Rana Naveedul Hasan were not in the camp as they were busy playing in England. They were expected to reach Lahore soon. The coach said that the non-availability of seasoned batsman Inzamam- ul-Haq for the first two one-dayers would be a great loss but the youngsters were quite talented. Inzamam-ul-Haq had been banned for two one-day matches. © Dawn
