Fast bowler Ian Jones has been released by Somerset after three years on the staff at Taunton.
The 24-year-old joined the Cidermen in 1999 after a spell with Durham, but missed the whole of the 2000 season with an ankle injury.
This season his appearences have been limited to the Somerset Second XI, apart from one first team match in the National League against Surrey Lions at The Oval in early June. On that occasion he went to the ground as a spectator but was called upon to play at the last minute after Richard Johnson went down with food poisoning.
In a match restricted to 10 overs a side Ian Jones took 3 wickets for 14 in his two over spell.
