Pakistan cricket selectors Monday named Wasim Akram and pacemen Muhammad Zahid and Irfan Fazil in the 23 probables for the camp, which will be run at the Gaddafi Stadium from Sept 6-15. However promising youngsters Imran Farhat, Hasan Raza, Yasir Arafat, Fazl Akbar and medium pacer Muhammad Akram have been axed. The camp is being organised to pick national team for the three-match one-day series against New Zealand starting fro Sept 19. Wasim Akram was omitted from the 27 probables who attended the camp at Karachi. However, after his performance in a practice match, he was included in the Pakistan team against Bangladesh at Multan. Wasim Akram bowled well but unfortunately went wicketless. Pace bowler Zahid recovering from a series of injuries stages a comeback after a long lay-off. He is reported to have regained fitness and is currently bowling flat-out.
