South African captain Shaun Pollock is to return to Warwickshire on a one-year contract next season.
The 28-year-old all-rounder last played for the county in 1996, taking four wickets in four balls on his debut in a Benson & Hedges Cup match against Leicester.
Pollock may miss some county games towards the end of next season in order to play in the ICC KnockOut one-day tournament, but Warwickshire are delighted to have him back at Edgbaston.
"At this stage we are awaiting confirmation of how much cricket Shaun shall miss, but we now have the option of bringing in another overseas player to replace him if necessary," said Warwickshire chief executive Dennis Amiss.
