PCB clarifies news report on tour fees
Pakistan Cricket Board - 27 October 2001
A news item in the "Dawn" of 27 October 2001, emanating from SADA, quoting Director PCB, tends to give the impression that PCB thinks that the tour guarantees/appearance fees, have not been standardized. This is a wrong impression. ICC Tour guarantee payments are in place since June 2001. These have not been revised again. The title of the same report, "PCB denies WI claims on Test Fee" also tends to give the impression of a Pakistan-versus-West Indies positioning on the subject. PCB clarifies that there is no such things. The West Indies have their concerns with respect to the tour guarantees that they have made known on a number of occasions. This is a matter between the ICC and West Indies.
The same report also gives the impression that Pakistan has fully endorsed New Zealand's decision on cancelling their tour to Pakistan. The position of the PCB as stated at many forums is that whereas it understands the view point of New Zealand, it clarifies that it had held out assurances of player safety & tour security to the New Zealand Board at all times and was wishing to host the tour.
