Bulls, QAS teams named Queensland Cricket - 23 October 2001
The XXXX Queensland Bulls will field the same team that got their one day season off to a flying start last week when they take on the Victorian Bushrangers at Punt Road in the ING Cup on Sunday. The Queensland selectors today named the same twelve that romped to a seven-wicket win over the Western Warriors at the Gabba last Sunday. Allrounder James Hopes returns to the team and is the only change to the twelve that is preparing for the Pura Cup match against the Victorian Bushrangers starting tomorrow. He replaces Mitchell Johnson for Sunday's game. XXXX QUEENSLAND BULLS v VICTORIAN BUSHRANGERS, ING CUP, Sunday: Stuart Law (c), Matthew Hayden, Jimmy Maher, Martin Love, Andrew Symonds, Clinton Perren, Wade Seccombe, Andy Bichel, James Hopes, Michael Kasprowicz, Nathan Hauritz, Ashley Noffke. Meanwhile Souths batsmen Michael Sippel and Matthew Lunn have received a golden opportunity to improve their future selection prospects with selection today in the Queensland Academy of Sport team to play New Zealand at Allan Border Field from Friday. Sippel, hard-hitting left-handed batsman who is also a cousin of Bulls paceman Andy Bichel, and Lunn have forced their way into the side following some strong performances with the bat for defending premiers Souths in the Brisbane XXXX First Grade competition. Lunn, a right-hand bat, also performed well for the QAS Colts team that defeated the Northern Territory a fortnight ago in a pair of one day games. XXXX Queenslandd Bulls squad member Jerry Cassell will captain the President's XI for the three-day tour match. The side also contains Bulls squad members Brendan Nash, Chris Hartley, Matthew Anderson and Scott O'Leary, rookie contracted players Craig Philipson and Duncan Betts and QAS squad pace bowlers Matthew Petrie, Boyd Williams and Steve Magoffin. QAS v New Zealand, Fri-Sun, Allan Border Field. Play starts 10am: Jerry Cassell (c), Duncan Betts, Brendan Nash, Matthew Lunn, Michael Sippel, Craig Philipson, Chris Hartley, Scott O'Leary, Matthew Anderson, Matthew Petrie, Boyd Williams, Steve Magoffin. © 2001 Queensland Cricket
