Kenyan manager to undergo heart bypass surgery Media Release - 17 October 2001
The manager of the visiting Kenyan cricket team, Mehmood Quraishy, has been admitted to the Greenacres hospital in Port Elizabeth and is expected to undergo heart bypass surgery within the next couple of days. Mr Quraishy suffered chest pains while at St George's Park this morning and was admitted to hospital after being assisted at the stadium by the manager of the Indian team, Dr MK Bhargava, who is a medical doctor. An angiogram was conducted this afternoon. Rob Kurz, the Vice President of the UCBSA, said: "We in the UCB will do everything we can to assist Mr Quraishy and to try and make him comfortable. We'll also help the Kenyan team and, in the absence of their manager, Doug Russell will travel with the team to assist with logistics. We wish Mr Quraishy a speedy recovery."
