New Club Max 20 Over League to be televised
Auckland Cricket Association - 11 October 2001
Auckland Cricket has today announced that the soon-to-commence 20 Over League cricket competition, being offered at club level this season, will now be known as the Club Max 20 Over League.
Auckland Cricket will incorporate the Max brand into its shorter version of the game. "Considerable money and time has been invested into the Max brand through the Super Max League series covered by Sky Television. Auckland Cricket's version of Max, the Club Max 20 Over League, does not include the rule variants, Max zones or painted lines of the Super Max League version, but it is a logical brand to employ to promote the club version of the shortest game," said Auckland Cricket Chief Executive, Lindsay Crocker.
The final of the top grade of the Club Max 20 Over League will be televised on Sky Television in an exciting boost for club level cricket. Additionally, roving reports from matches in the various Club Max grades will be screened on Sky Television's regular cricket show, The Cricket Company, allowing club level play to get the coverage on television it has never before enjoyed.
The Club Max 20 Over League will be officially launched this Sunday with a festival match at the Cornwall Cricket Club commencing at 1pm. The festival match will feature a host of past and present Auckland Cricket players, media and other celebrities. Entry to the match is free to the public. Proceeds from a range of fundraising activities will support the SPCA.
