When he was named as "Man of the Tournament" and "Best Bowler" after his outstanding performances for Burgher Recreation Club last season.
Weerakoon, 23, grabbed an incredible 80 wickets in 2000-01 to become the highest wicket taker. His season exploits included seven five-wicket and four ten-wicket hauls. His performances booked himself a place in the Sri Lanka A team during Pakistan A's tour in June 2001.
Recalled left-hander Hashan Tillakaratne was named "Best Batsman" after his 665 runs at an average in excess of 100, which had earned him a second chance in Test cricket during the recently completed Indian series.
Tillakaratne, Nondescripts Cricket Club (NCC) captain, also collected the Premier League trophy, his side having just beaten BRC to the championship, which finished in April.
The Sara Trophy was won by the Chilaw Marians with Ragama CC runners-up. Both the teams have qualified to play the Premier League this season.
Donovon Andree Cup was won by Matara Sports Club with Kalutara Town Club runners up. The Provincial Trophy went to Aruna Sports Club.
The Division III winners were Hambantota Cricket Club.
