The Board of Control for Cricket in Sri Lanka wishes to state that the article titled "Cricket Board employees get pay hike" in the Daily Mirror of Friday, November 23, 2001, is completely false and misleading.

The article quoted unnamed "Board sources" as saying that "the Cricket Board recently increased the salaries of its staff by ten percent."

This is completely incorrect. No decision has been taken to increase the salaries of the staff of the BCCSL. The amounts of salaries of management personnel of the BCCSL that were given in this article are also incorrect.

It is regrettable that this newspaper chose to publish this article without first checking the facts from the Media Department of the BCCSL. Contact numbers of the BCCSL's official spokesmen, including handphone numbers, have been widely circulated among the media.
