New Zealand Cricket reduce prices for summer season
New Zealand Cricket - 20 November 2001

New Zealand Cricket today announced a substantial reduction in ticket prices for the coming season of international cricket.

The CLEAR Black Caps contest The National Bank Test series against Bangladesh and the National Bank Test and One-Day International series against England this summer.

Following a review of its pricing policy, New Zealand Cricket has reduced its One-Day International ticket prices. A standard $10 entry price has been set for all schoolchildren and the price of adult tickets has been reduced by up to 25%.

One-Day International tickets are also fully insured under the new pricing structure. If a result is not achieved over the scheduled day's play and the reserve day, ticket holders will be entitled to a full refund of the ticket price.

Prices to the five One-Day Internationals against England will be $30 for an adult premium seat, $20 for an adult Terrace ticket and $10 for children anywhere in the ground.

The term "children" has also been redefined to allow all schoolchildren to access the reduced price scales. Previously, young people had to be under 16 to enjoy the age-based discounts to One-Day Internationals.

Test match prices have also been significantly reduced, with adult day passes set at $10 for the Bangladesh Tests and $15 for the England Test series. Children will enjoy free entry to the matches against Bangladesh and pay $5 for a day at a Test against England.

New Zealand Cricket's Marketing Manager, Peter Dwan, said that the new prices provided real incentive for fans to attend international cricket.

We want to stimulate greater attendance to Test match cricket and feel that lower day entry and match pass prices will contribute to achieving that goal," said Dwan.

"The reduced prices for One-Day Internationals will also be particularly attractive to young adults, families and children," he said.

New Zealand Cricket completed a review of its own historical ticket price policy, of other sports code practice and of the New Zealand entertainment market before setting prices for the 2001/02 National Bank Series.
