Somerset County Cricket Club have reported a pre tax profit of £104,644 for the 2001 season. The turnover for the season also increased by £353,000 to just short of £3million.
During the 2001 season the Cidermen had a very successful four day match against Australia at The County Ground, they had home ties in the quarter finals of both of the one day competitions, and had a home semi final in the Cheltenham and Gloucester Trophy all of which helped to generate income.
In 2000 the club recorded a profit of £30,000, whilst in 1999 it was £90,000. Chief Executive Peter Anderson told me, "It's pleasing to record a profit on the season, but it has to be put into perspective. Next season we don't have a guaranteed match against the tourists nor can we guarantee a cup run."
