Tri-series in Dhaka cancelled 8 November 2001
The tri-nation one-day series in Bangladesh and involving traditional rivals India and Pakistan has been cancelled. The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has communicated the decision to Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB). The cancellation of the series means Pakistan will now play two Tests and three one-day internationals against Bangladesh in December- January. According to sources, Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) president Jaghmohan Dalmiya conveyed to PCB director Munawar Rana in Kuala Lumpur that he was keen to resume cricketing ties with Pakistan. "But at the same time, he has bought time until February," sources said. Dalmiya has also to confirm to ICC in February if India can host next year's KnockOut tournament. Pakistan's participation is a big question mark particularly after India twice cancelled scheduled tours to Pakistan this year. © Dawn Source: Dawn Editorial comments can be sent to Dawn at webmaster@dawn.com |
