Time to get online - Sixes website launched
Press Release - 6 November 2001

Tournament organisers have announced that the official website for the Cathay Pacific/Standard Chartered Hong Kong Cricket Sixes has been launched to keep cricket fans worldwide in touch with the sport's premier Sixes tournament. The 2001 edition of this event will be held this weekend from November 10-11 at the Kowloon Cricket Club.

David Deller, from tournament organisers WSG Asia, said that the site – hosted by CricInfo Limited – will include live scores, text commentary, news, match reports, 2001 tournament and ticket information, and the tournament's history.

Deller said: "CricInfo Limited is the world's leading digital cricket information company, and their site, www.cricinfo.com, is not only the most popular cricket site in the world, but is among the Internet's most popular sports sites."

The official tournament website can be found by logging on to www.cricinfo.com and following the links to the `Hong Kong Cricket Sixes' page.

It is estimated that CricInfo reaches more than 15 million fans in 180 countries, with more than 100 million page impressions per month. The company currently produces the official websites for eight of the 10 Test-playing countries, as well as the ICC.

"This is a fantastic way for Hong Kong Cricket Sixes fans around the world to keep up with their team. However, for CricInfo, the world's leading cricket website, to be covering the tournament live, it is also great recognition for the prestige of the event itself. We look forward to their support."

Meanwhile, in other news from the Cathay Pacific/Standard Chartered Hong Kong Cricket Sixes, India have announced the replacements for three of their original squad.

Ajit Agarkar (Test duty), Reetinder Singh Sodhi (leg injury) and Yuvraj Singh (Ranji Cup duty) are all unavailable from the original Indian squad. They have been replaced by Debashis Mohanty (25 years, RHB, RH medium with two Tests and 45 one-day internationals), Nikhil Chopra (27 years, RHB, RH off-break with one Test and 39 one-day internationals), and Mohammad Kaif (20 years, RHB, RH off-break with four Tests).

England have also announced that Dougie Brown has replaced Richard Johnson in their squad. Johnson has been called into the national squad for their tour of India, after the withdrawal of Andy Caddick due to safety concerns. Brown, a 32-year-old born in Scotland, is a right-hand bat and right arm fast-medium bowler.

Australia, England, South Africa, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, India and the UAE will join Hong Kong at the Cathay Pacific/Standard Chartered Hong Kong Cricket Sixes.

The teams have been drawn into two pools for the tournament, with the top two sides in each pool entering the Cup semi-finals and the others two sides contesting the Plate semi-finals.

Tickets for the Cathay Pacific/Standard Chartered Hong Kong Cricket Sixes are on sale from Hong Kong Cricket Club, the Kowloon Cricket Club, and Dot Cod Seafood Restaurant and Oyster Bar in Central. Passes for the two days of the tournament are priced at HK$450 for adults with children's tickets (15 years and under) costing $HK250.
