Chief Executive appointed
Canterbury Cricket Association - 6 November 2001
Canterbury Cricket has appointed Richard Reid, former Wellington, Auckland and New Zealand representative, to the position of Chief Executive.
Reid, until recently the General Manager of NIKE in New Zealand and latterly Nigeria, has accepted a three-year appointment commencing early November 2001.
"We are delighted to have attracted someone with Richard's experience in the business of sport" said the Chairman of Canterbury Cricket, David Shackleton. "In addition to his business experience he will bring a fresh viewpoint to the issues facing Canterbury Cricket and from our discussions to date has shown some innovative ideas".
"I see my role with Canterbury Cricket is to ensure that it is properly positioned to take the game forward at all levels. Canterbury occupies a special place within New Zealand cricket and one of the things that we must do is get Canterbury back to a pre-eminent position," said Reid.
"To succeed, the relationship and aims of all partners, but specifically Districts, Clubs and Schools, is essential," commented Reid. "If Canterbury Cricket is to be successful it won't be just down to me, it will be because everyone is on the same page."
