Changes to ICC Development Program Regions
ICC Development (East Asia-Pacific) Media Release - 2 November 2001
Hong Kong (ICC Associate Member), Brunei (ICC Affiliate Member) & all possible future member countries in East Asia have been realigned from the ICC Development Program East Asia – Pacific Region to the Asia Region.
These changes are effective as of 1 November.
ICC Development Manager, Andrew Eade said, "these alterations to the Regional structure of the Program came about after lengthy consideration and final decision at the ICC Executive Board meetings in Kuala Lumpur in October.
"This has been deemed in the best interests of all of the Global Program and the Regions and countries concerned," he added.
In light of this change, the current structure of the Asia Region, the development of which is undertaken by the Asia Cricket Council with the support of ICC Full Members, Bangladesh, India, Pakistan & Sri Lanka, is as
follows:
ASIA REGION
Associate Members: Hong Kong, Malaysia, Nepal, Singapore & United Arab Emirates
Affiliate Members: Afghanistan, Bahrain, Bhutan, Brunei, Kuwait, Maldives, Omar, Qatar & Thailand
The East Asia – Pacific Region, supported by the Australian Cricket Board and New Zealand Cricket, now comprises:
EAST ASIA – PACIFIC REGION
Associate Members: Fiji & Papua New Guinea
Affiliate Members: Cook Islands, Indonesia, Japan, Philippines, Samoa, South Korea, Tonga & Vanuatu
Outside of the existing Member nations, countries who have previously received some support from the East Asia - Pacific Program who will now come under the Asia Region in regard to any future developments include; Cambodia, China, Mongolia & Vietnam.
