State Auckland Aces to field unchanged line-up for second round of State Championship
Auckland Cricket Association - 29 November 2001
State Auckland Aces coach and convener of selectors, Tony Sail, has this afternoon named an unchanged team to play the State Wellington Firebirds in the second round of the State Championship starting at the Basin Reserve on Sunday.
The State Auckland Aces beat the State Central Stags by eight wickets in their opening game today. Matt Horne (108 not out) and Aaron Barnes (56 not out) guided the State Auckland Aces home to victory in the 68th over of the innings. Horne recorded his 18th first-class century, and Barnes his 8th first-class fifty, in scoring the winning runs.
"We set a goal today of winning the game without losing any further wickets. To achieve that goal so emphatically was really pleasing. This win provides us with an excellent platform to build on for our next game against the State Wellington Firebirds," Sail said.
The State Auckland Aces team to play the State Wellington Firebirds is:
Brooke Walker (captain)
Andre Adams
Aaron Barnes
Tama Canning
Mark Haslam
Matt Horne
Nick Horsley
Tim McIntosh
Kyle Mills
Richard Morgan
Rob Nicol
