Academy Chief Coach not against Pakistan 'A' tour to Sri Lanka - PCB
Pakistan Cricket Board - 30 May 2001
A news item has appeared in a section of the Press giving the impression that the PCB, and specifically the Academy Chief Coach is not in favour of the Pakistan "A" tour to Sri Lanka. The situation is clarified as follows.
Even since the Academy became a part of our plans, sometime in January 2001, tour to Sri Lanka was a part of the training programme of the Academy players. Originally, the tour was programmed to start by mid-May and the Academy by mid-April. The Academy programme was later shifted to mid-May. The PCB tried and the Sri Lankan Board kindly agreed, to take it back to 2nd week June. This has given the Coach over 3 weeks with the players before embarking on the tour. Thus the tour has fitted in very well with our programme. On return the boys will continue with the rest of their training till end-August. Those players of the Academy, who have not made it for the tour will continue their training here with the Pakistan Juniors under Haroon Rashid.
