National Umpires Committee met at Pakistan Cricket Board Headquarters, Gaddafi stadium, Lahore recently. The Committee comprises of Mahboob Shah (Chairman) Said Ahmed Shah, both former International umpires and Mian Mohammad Aslam, currently on the ICC Umpiring Panel. The meeting which lasted 7-8 hours was presided over by Director PCB and it was also attended by the General Manager (Cricket Operations) and Manager (Umpires) of PCB. Progress on directives that had been given last year by Chairman PCB was reviewed. Besides this some fresh proposals for the umpires training and umpires welfare were discussed, emphasis being to put in place long lasting measures. The Committee will meet again sometime in the month of June to finalize the proposals and give them a concrete shape. Course for the umpires will hopefully be run in the months of July - August.
Some proposals sent by Nasim-ul-Ghani, Ex-ICC Development Officer for Asia were also discussed, as he could not personally attend the meeting in his capacity as PCB Advisor on Coaching and Umpiring being himself away from the country.
