Canada win third game of Sri Lanka tour CCA - 5 May 2001
Sri Lanka – The Canadian National Cricket Team, under Captain Joe Harris, today won their first game on this Sri Lankan visit. This is the finishing push for the National Squad as they prepare for the ICCT 2001 from June 28 to July 18th, 2001. Batting first the Western Provinces XI was dismissed for 160 runs in 47.5 overs. Best bowling figures were returned by Austin Codrington, 3 for 24, and Nicholas Degroot 2 for 24. Barry Seebaran, wicketless in this outing, nevertheless has figures of 10 overs, 2 maidens, 20 runs. Canada in their turn was 126 for 5 wickets in 37 overs at time, and won on run-rate. Top scorers for Canada were Nicholas Degroot with 57 runs and Joe Harris with 34 runs. Nigel Isaacs 14 not out and Nicholas Ifill, yet to score, were the not out batsmen. There were three changes in the Canadian team for this game. All players have now seen some action, even though Game 2 was abandoned. Scores WPCA 160 for 10 in 47.5 overs. B2, LB 5, W 8, NB 7. FOW: 1/4, 2/18, 3/51, 4/68, 5/87, 6/105, 7/125,8/127, 9/154, 10/160. Scores CANADA 126 for 5 in 37 overs. B2, LB 1, W2, NB1.
