PIA reeling despite Zahid's hat trick 27 March 2001
National Bank's bowlers hit back to have PIA reeling at 86 for seven on the opening day of the Patron's Trophy Grade-I cricket match at Arbab Niaz Stadium in Peshawar on Monday. Earlier, after being sent into bat, National Bank were restricted to 210 in their first innings. Pacer Mohammad Zahid Junior returned splendid career-best figures of seven for 71 including a hat trick, according to a message received here. National Bank's veteran skipper Sajid Ali, the former Pakistan one-day opener, made a welcome return to form with 77 off 124 deliveries. His knock was punctuated with 13 boundaries. Zahid dismissed Qaiser Abbas, Akhtar Sarfraz and Nomanullah off successive deliveries as the total remained stationary on 81. PIA lost openers Asim Kamal and Ghulam Ali without a run on the board and never really recovered after that. Athar Laeeq and Aleem Musa, National Bank's pace duo, shared all seven wickets between them.
