Dazzling century by Naved Latif 27 March 2001
Diminutive Naved Latif slammed a belligerent 133 to dig Pakistan Customs out of trouble against Wapda in the Patron's Trophy Grade-I cricket encounter at Iqbal Stadium in Faisalabad on Monday. Customs closed the opening day of the four-day tie at 361 for nine, according to details available here. Naved came to the crease after Customs had lost three for 93 and were later reduced to 160 for six after being asked to bat first by Wapda captain Adil Nisar. But Naved, who struck 20 fours and one six in his 133 off 163 balls, and tailender Rana Naveed-ul-Hasan (70 off 91 balls, 10 fours and one six) added 132 for the seventh wicket in 26.3 overs. Naved and wicket-keeper Wasim Yousufi (14) then combined to put on 52 for the eighth wicket when the former was trapped LBW by Faisal Irfan.
