ICC Anti-Corruption Unit (ACU) postpones visit to Sri Lanka
ICC Media Release - 27 March 2001
The ICC Anti-Corruption Unit (ACU) has postponed a planned visit to Sri Lanka.
Members of the Unit, including director Sir Paul Condon, were due to fly to Sri Lanka later this week for a series of meetings with cricket officials, ministers and players.
The visit has been delayed to allow Sri Lankan players named in the Indian CBI Report more time to complete written responses to the allegations made against them.
"Desmond Fernando, Sri Lanka's special anti-corruption investigator, has advised us that he will not have received written responses from the players in question in time for our planned visit," explained Sir Paul Condon.
"On that basis we have agreed to postpone this trip, but I should stress that we remain very keen to pursue our enquiries in Sri Lanka. New dates will be arranged in the near future," he added.
