England U17 team to visit Australian Cricket Academy ECB Media Release - 20 March 2001
The England Under 17 team will spend two and a half weeks at the Australian National Academy in Adelaide as part of their winter training programme. The trip begins on Sunday 1 April and ends on Wednesday 18 April. The team will train at the Academy, and play five matches in total: two one-day games against the South Australia U17 team, followed by a three-day game and two further one-day games against the Australian U17 Development Squad. Seven Yorkshire players are included in the 14-strong squad, with two Nottinghamshire representatives and one each from Somerset, Middlesex, Sussex, Lancashire and Durham. Hugh Morris, ECB Performance Director, said, "The Australian National Academy boasts some of the best cricket facilities in the world and it will provide excellent preparation for our players for the coming season. The matches against the South Australia U17 and Australian U17 development squad will also give them good experience of playing in foreign conditions against high quality opposition."
