Berry to face fitness test for Pura Cup Final
Victorian Cricket Association - 19 March 2001
The Victorian Bushrangers today included vice-captain Darren Berry, in a
thirteen man squad for the Pura Cup Final against the Queensland Bulls
starting at the Gabba this Friday.
Berry was a late withdrawal from last week's match against the Western
Warriors with a bruised AC joint of the left shoulder. He will undergo a
private fitness test with the Bushrangers medical staff before the team's
departure to Brisbane.
Bushrangers coach John Scholes said that Berry would have to prove his
fitness in the closed session. "Obviously we're hopeful Darren comes
through, but we won't take any risks and have retained Peter Roach in our
squad. As vice-captain Darren's a very important member of the team and has
been for over a decade now, however the bottom line is to make sure he's 100
per cent for what is sure to be a tough five days."
