Parida and Mullick put Orissa in command Staff Reporter - 11 March 2001
Orissa piled up 369 runs for the loss of three wickets at the end of the first day's play in the Ranji Trophy pre-quarterfinal match against Jammu & Kashmir at the Barabati Stadium in Cuttack on Sunday. J&K won the toss and asked Orissa to have a bat first. It seemed like working out for J&K when they dismissed the first three wickets for 64 runs. Suresh Kumar (3) PK Das (10) and captain SS Raul (8) were all back in the pavilion in a hurry. What ensued was the total domination by Rashmi Parida and Pravanjan Mullick, who smashed the J&K bowling to all parts of the ground. Parida (194 not out) and Pravanjan Mullick (147 not out) have so far added 335 runs for the unbroken fourth wicket stand. Parida's innings has been a picture of confidence and excellence, smashing 31 boundaries in his unbeaten knock of 194 in 277 balls. Mullick's 147 has come in just 184 balls, including 16 hits past the ropes and three sailing over the it. © CricInfo
