Saeed down with groin injury 5 March 2001
Opener Saeed Anwar has added to Pakistan's woes on the current tour of New Zealand with a groin injury, an official of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) said. Director of the PCB, Brig Munawwar Rana, said he has been told of Saeed's injury by the tour management. "He was injured before the three-dayer. Apparently it looks that he has aggravated the problem,' Rana said. Saeed reportedly didn't take the field on the second day nor he came out of bat with Pakistan struggling at 108 for four in their second innings. Rana added that the tour management communicated to him that Inzamam- ul-Haq has made recovery. "He is slowly recovering but still remains a doubtful starter for the first Test starting Thursday." Wasim Akram, Abdur Razzaq, Azhar Mahmood are already on the injured list. The PCB official said the tourists have not asked for any reinforcements. Meanwhile, uncapped middle-order batsman Misbah-ul-Haq left for Auckland to join the embattled Pakistanis. © Dawn
