Victorian all-rounder Ian Harvey has flown back to Melbourne for specialist advice on an injured thumb and is in doubt for Australia's one-day series against India.
Harvey suffered a hairline fracture of his right thumb while batting against Tasmania in a Pura Cup match in Hobart on Saturday.
An Australian Cricket Board spokesman says the one-day squad for India will be named before the end of the second Test which starts in Calcutta next Sunday.
He says Harvey, an important part of the Australian team in the tri-nation one-day series this summer, will have to prove his fitness before being considered.
The players leave Australia on March 17.
