Bugti Stadium Quetta handed over to PCB Pakistan Cricket Board - 31 July 2001
The Bugti Stadium, Quetta was officially handed over to Pakistan Cricket Board by Balochistan Government after a formal agreement was signed between provincial Government and PCB in Quetta on Tuesday. The Director PCB, Brig. Munawar Ahmed Rana signed the agreement on behalf of the PCB with Provincial Government. Under the agreement, PCB will bring all round improvements on the ground besides doubling the seats from its present 7000 - 8000 capacity, incurring an expenditure of about Rs. 70 million. The Bugti Stadium is to be developed for making fit for Domestic/International matches. Bugti Stadium is one of the eight projects being undertaken in Balochistan by PCB, out of which work has already started on four projects in various parts of the province. Director PCB will also be visiting Naushki on Wednesday to see the progress on the local project for developing a cricket facility.
Approval of these project was accorded by Chairman PCB, Lt. General Tauqir Zia, when he visited Quetta in February last. The moving spirit behind this cricket development plan has been the Governor Balochistan and Chairman PCB to uplift the game of cricket in the province and meet the long standing desire of local cricket enthusiasts to have Quetta as venue of National/International cricket matches.
