Michael Atherton will again captain the side in the absence of the injured Nasser Hussain. Hussain is now aiming to be fit for the Headingley Test Match along with England's other injured batsmen, Graham Thorpe and Michael Vaughan.

"Dominic Cork misses out this time as we have decided to go for the greater pace of Alex Tudor who has performed well for Surrey this season since coming back from injury. We wanted to show continuity of selection by including Robert Croft as he was included in the squad earlier in the season and also performed very well on the winter tour of Sri Lanka."
