Wilson & Atkinson - 18 July 2001
Travelex, the world's largest foreign exchange specialist and the official sponsor of the Australian Cricket Team during their summer tour of Britain are pleased to announce the signing of Adam Gilchrist as their official spokesman.
The Australian Vice-Captain will work with Travelex to promote their sponsorship during the Ashes Tour.
Adam said of the partnership "I am thrilled to become a part of the Travelex team and to be associated with such a highly regarded international organization operating throughout the world. As someone who travels extensively throughout the cricketing world, I really appreciate how important it is to have a reliable and substantial company to provide currency exchange services to the traveler who may be thousands of miles away from home. It is also extremely exciting to be involved with a company that has made such an outstanding commitment to Australian cricket by their major sponsorship of the 2001 Ashes Tour."
The deal will involve marketing activity in both the UK and Australia, with Travelex offices in both Australia and the UK involved in the deal. Travelex has become the world's largest non-bank commercial payments business, with over 650 branches across four continents, and has services at many of the world's major gateways including London, New York, Hong Kong, Paris, Milan, Frankfurt and Sydney.
Andrew Want, Managing Director of Travelex in Australia said: "I'm delighted that following my discussions with Adam before the team left for England, we've been able to expand our involvement with the Ashes squad through this new relationship with Adam. He is a great player and I believe will be one of the pillars of the team into the future. Adam is one of those characters who adds something special to the game."
"Sportsworld Media, both here in Australia and in the UK, have been a great
help with the sponsorship and we're thrilled they've been able to help us
now form this new relationship with Adam."
