Somerset Under-16 opening batsman Richard Timms scored a fine unbeaten 176 out of his sides score of 324 for 8 in their match against Essex at Bath C.C. earlier this week, but sadly it was all to no avail as rain washed out any further play in the match.

Timms batted from 11am until the close of play, and his fine innings included 22 fours.

Unfortunately no play was possible on the second day so the match ended in a draw.
