Sussex and Australia see the light Sussex CCC Media Release - 16 July 2001
Sussex CCC are set to create first-class cricket history in England. The Australian team management has confirmed their agreement to the permanent floodlights at Hove being used in the event of bad light during the Sussex and Australian match, 8-10 August. For some years floodlights have been used in the southern hemisphere during Test matches affected by bad light. The move to allow the same consideration in the Sussex/Australian match shows the concern of cricketing authorities to provide more consistent conditions for players and uninterrupted entertainment for spectators. David Gilbert, Sussex Chief Executive, is right behind the decision: "Given that we are expecting large crowds for this match I am delighted that the Australian team management has been more than happy to agree to our request."
