Malcolm Speed, the new Chief Executive Officer of the ICC, has taken up his post at the head of the international game's governing body.

Malcolm is based at the ICC office in London, having relocated from Melbourne to succeed outgoing Chief Executive David Richards.

He was appointed after an extensive global search for a senior executive to take the ICC forward as an influential world governing body for cricket.

The new CEO faces an intensive and challenging workload. Early priorities will include the implementation of recommendations contained in the ICC Anti-Corruption Unit report, the management of a new system of ICC panel umpires and referees and addressing widespread concern over issues surrounding player behaviour.

Other tasks will be the relocation of the ICC's commercial operation in Monaco to larger and more appropriate premises, and the recruitment of staff in London to manage the organisation's growing responsibilities, fuelled by the expansion of the international game.

"The ICC is at a crucial point in its development as international cricket's governing body and I am excited by the challenges ahead for me and my team.

The game is changing at an increasingly rapid pace and demands effective and efficient management. I am under no illusions about the scale of the task ahead and I approach it with enthusiasm and conviction," commented Malcolm Speed.

Prior to joining the ICC Malcolm led the Australian Cricket Board as its Chief Executive from 1997, during which time the national team confirmed its position as the leading Test and One Day side in world cricket. Before joining the ACB, Malcolm practised as a barrister in Melbourne.
