BCCI draws up schedule for England, Zimbabwe tours Staff Reporter - 7 July 2001
Mohali, Kanpur and Bangalore will host the Test matches against England during their tour of India in the 2001-2002 season. The BCCI tours, programme and fixtures committee meeting at Jaipur on Saturday drew up the dates and venues for the tours of England and Zimbabwe during the winter. The first Test match will be played at Mohali from December 3 to 7. Kanpur will host the second Test from December 11 to 15 while the third and final Test match will be held at Bangalore from December 19 to 23. Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata, Delhi and Hyderabad will host the five one day internationals. The first ODI will be held at Mumbai on January 22, the second will be played at Chennai on January 25, the third at Kolkata on January 28, the fourth at New Delhi on January 31 and the fifth at Hyderabad on February 3. All matches will be day/night. The England team will also play three three day matches at Pune, Nagpur and Indore. The games will be against the Ranji Trophy champions Baroda, India A and Board President's XI. The visitors open their tour with a three day game from November 18 to 20. The other two three day matches will be played between November 23 and 25 and November 28 and 30. The England team is scheduled to arrive in India on November 14 and shall return on February 4. It is also planned for the visitors to return to England for Christmas between December 24 and January 11. This explains the long gap between the Tests and the ODIs. The Zimbabwe team which will follow England are scheduled to play one three day game, two Test matches and five ODIs. The team which arrives on February 12, open their tour with a game against Board President's XI to be played at Vijayawada from February 15 to 17. The first Test match will be played at Ahmedabad from February 20 to 24 and the second Test match at New Delhi from February 28 to March 4. The five ODIs will be played at Mohali (March 7), Guwahati (March 10), Kochi (March 13), Faridabad (March 16) and Jamshedpur (March 19). © CricInfo
