Jamie Cox, who injured his thumb whilst fielding against Yorkshire, has been declared fit and returns to lead Somerset in their CricInfo Championship match against Essex which starts on Wednesday at Taunton.

Also included in the squad of 12 is batsman Matthew Wood, who has yet to make his first senior appearance at Taunton and bowler Jamie Grove, but there is no place for Jason Kerr.

On the eve of the match Somerset Coach Kevin Shine told me: "We have got to pick ourselves up from Sunday's defeat, and this is a different game. Essex haven't been having too good a time this season so we have to try to capitalise on this."
