Love in doubt for Tigers clash Queensland Cricket - 30 January 2001
The XXXX Queensland Bulls may be without premier batsman Martin Love for Friday's day/night Mercantile Mutual Cup match against Tasmania due to a hamstring injury. Love, who suffered the injury during the Bulls' loss to Victoria at the MCG on Australia Day, was today named in a squad of 13 along with debutant batsman Brendan Nash. Nash, 21, would join Northern Districts teammates James Hopes and Nathan Hauritz in the Bulls team if he were elevated into the starting twelve for the Tigers match. A left-handed opening batsman and left-arm medium-pacer, Nash learned of his selection after coming from the field on the opening day of the four-day ACB Cup clash between the Queensland Academy Of Sport and the Victorian 2nd XI at Allan Border Field. Love will be assessed further at training on Thursday morning at the Gabba, commencing at 8.30am. The Bulls squad, minus those players who are in action in the ACB Cup match, will train on the beach at Mooloolaba tomorrow from 3pm. The Bulls are running last in the Mercantile Mutual Cup, with Tasmania sitting in fourth spot.
