Hartley to make QAS debut Queensland Cricket - 25 January 2001
Australian Under-19 wicket-keeper Chris Hartley will make his debut for the Queensland Academy Of Sport next week against the Victoria 2nd XI in the ACB Cup at Allan Border Field. Hartley, a scholarship holder at the Commonwealth Bank Cricket Academy and member of the Australia Post Queensland Under-19 national championship team, has earned selection ahead of the experienced Gavin Fitness for the match. Hartley joins fellow Australian and Queensland Under-19 teammate Nathan Hauritz in the team, with the State selectors opting to try Hauritz in a four-day match after selecting him earlier this month for the XXXX Queensland Bulls one-day side. Hartley, Norths opening batsmen Duncan Betts and Brendan Nash and Redlands pace bowler Matthew Petrie are the only players not to have played for the Bulls. Making a return to the QAS team is left-hander Lance Kahler who has been one of the leading runs-scorers in the Brisbane XXXX Grade premiership so far this season. The Victorian team includes former Bulls batsman Matthew Mott and will be captained by ex-Bushrangers batsman Laurie Harper. The match starts on Monday January 29 and continues until Thursday.
