Two England ‘A’ lads have Barbados roots 24 January 2001
When England's reserve cricketers take to the field at Kensington Oval on Friday, among them will be two with Bajan connections. NATIONSPORT caught up with the England 'A' team yesterday as they had an intense training session after arriving early in the morning. Captain Mark Alleyne (right), born in London but educated at Harrison College, said his side intended to play entertaining cricket in the fourth-round Busta Cup match against Barbados starting Friday. Alex Tudor (left), is also of Barbadian extraction. The side's leading fast bowler, Tudor was born in England, but his father was from St. Philip and his mother, St. Michael. The two, who visit Barbados often, have represented England at the highest level, with the 6-foot-5-inch Tudor having played three Tests while Alleyne has made ten One-Day International appearances. © The Barbados Nation
