Gallian to miss start of season Notts CCC Media Release - 24 January 2001
Notts must start the 2001 season without influential skipper and batsman Jason Gallian after it was discovered he requires knee surgery.
The 29-year-old's knee flared up and became painful as he progressed his training during the winter break. After seeing a knee specialist and having a scan, it was revealed he would need to have a minor operation to ensure he would be free of pain. Said Gallian: "It's a bit like having tennis elbow in your leg and while I'm told it's not a dangerous condition, it is painful. "I'm hugely disappointed this has hit me now as it means I will not be fit to start the season with Notts. "I should only miss two or three games but having spent so long away from cricket it's annoying this should come on as the season is approaching." The specialist medical opinion was that this would benefit Jason long-term and that his recovery should be phased over approximately © CricInfo Ltd.
