Darren Gough is to captain an England and Yorkshire side against a Rest of the World XI in a 40-over day-night match at Sheffield's Don Valley Stadium on August 30 as part of his benefit season.
Although few names are finalised as yet, Gough's benefit organisers are confident they can secure "the biggest names in cricket." 'Dickie' Bird has agreed to umpire, while some of the touring Australian team are sure to play.
"It could be the only chance I ever get to captain," said Gough. "I'm really looking forward to it and hopefully the people of South Yorkshire will come along to watch because it's been a few years since they've had first-class cricket in the area."
