Bloomfield Sports and Athletic Club look set to remain top of Group A after a powerful display on the second day of their Premier League game against Galle CC at Reid Avenue. Finishing their first innings on 304, they then dismissed the Southern Province team for a just 146. Bloomfield were able to enforce the follow on and Galle CC were still 144 runs adrift at the close.

Colombo Cricket Club, who were joint leaders with Bloomfield at the end of last weeks matches, need to score a further 42 runs with just one wicket remaining if the they are to secure a first innings victory against BRC. Should the Burgher club clinch a first innings victory, they could well overtake CCC in the points table.

Nondescripts Cricket Club had an unsuccessful day on Friday, but fought back well today. Singha CC were 228 for four overnight and looked set for a large total. However, they lost their last six wickets for just 42 runs to finish on 287. NCC then made a confident reply, scoring 224 for four, thanks to a fine 73 from Pradeep Hewage, an unbeaten run-a-ball 40 from Tillakaratne, and a 44 by Tissera.

Tamil Union have made a solid reply to Sebastianites challenging first innings total of 365. They were 127 for two at the close of play and now trail Sebastianites by 238 runs. Shiroman scored 64 runs.

Sinhalese Sports Club continue to dominate Antonians Sports Club at Maitland Place. Having dismissed the bottom of the table club for 190, they quickly compiled 400 for five to secure maximum batting points and a first innings victory. Ian Daniels (106) and RPAH Wickramaratne (139) both scored entertaining centuries. Antonians are currently 36 without loss in their second innings.

Colts CC will be pressing for an outright victory against Kurunegala tomorrow after an impressive batting display today in which there were three half centuries and a 48 from Liyange. They were eventually bowled out for 348, which gave them a lead of 110 runs. Agith Ekanayake took six wickets for 113 runs. The left arm spinner, who has played for the club for 18 years, is now nearing 1000 club wickets.

At Braybroke Place Rangana Herath was once again in fine form. He took yet another five wicket haul today, to bowl out the Navy for 137. Moors finished the day on 191 for five in their second innings. They now have a lead of 333 runs and will be looking to Herath to continue taking wickets tomorrow.
