Cullinan replaces Dravid as Kent's overseas player

Kent County Cricket Club on Tuesday announced that South African middle order batsman Daryll Cullinan will replace Indian batsman Rahul Dravid as Kent's overseas player for the 2001 season. The replacement comes in the wake of Dravid's inability to renew his contract due to international commitments.

The chairman of the Kent County Cricket Club, Carl Openshaw in a press release said "We are delighted that Daryll has agreed to join Kent as our overseas player for the coming season. The crowded international programme is making it increasingly difficult to secure the services of top class international players for a full season."

Cullinan, who will arrive in England soon after South Africa's tour of West Indies said "I am excited about playing county cricket in England. It came out of the blue but I am delighted with the professionalism Kent have shown throughout and their willingness and keenness."

Indian Railways storm into final, to meet Andhra

Holders Indian Railways trounced Bengal by ten wickets to enter the final of the 25th Senior National Women's Cricket Championship in Asansol on Tuesday. Railways are to meet Andhra, who beat Mumbai by two wickets, in the final.

Opting to bat, Bengal scored 151 for nine. Rupanjali Shastri was the most successful bowler with three wickets. In response, Railways cantered home thanks to openers Rajni Venugopal (76 runs, 9 fours) and Vanita Viola (69 runs, 11 fours) remaining unbeaten till the end.

In the other semifinal, Mumbai batting first were bundled out for 139 in 63.4 overs. Andhra in reply overhauled the target in 79.4 overs while losing eight wickets in the process. Andhra's Subarna Lakshmi scalped 4 for 46 and then shone with the bat to remain unbeaten on 37.
