Efforts on to hold tourney in aid of quake-hit: Muthiah Staff Reporter - 9 February 2001
Board of Control for Cricket in India president AC Muthiah said in Chennai on Thursday that efforts were on to hold a four-nation cricket tournament in India in aid of the Gujarat earthquake victims sometime in April. Muthiah told Press Trust of India that he would explore the possibilities of hosting a tournament for the cause of the quake hit. "Once the four nation tournament is confirmed and the countries to participate is known, the Board will decide the venues for the matches," he said. On the teams for the tournament, he said the Boards of Australia, South Africa, New Zealand, Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe will be approached and a decision was likely to be taken during the ICC meeting at Melbourne. Late in the night, Muthiah left for Melbourne to take part in the deliberations at the two-day ICC meeting. © CricInfo
