The Belize National Cricket Association (BNCA) now has a new executive, headed by its president, Elston Wade. The cricket season, which runs from February to August, will begin on February 10, 2001, with a cricket marathon. The regular competition starts on February 17.

Sixteen teams are expected to take part in the competition, which will consist of two zones. Games are played in accordance with the Laws of Cricket (MCC), and it is still the custom of Belizean cricketers to be dressed in complete white uniform.

Sunrise Cricket Club is the defending champion and Wicked Eleven is the sub-champion, but the scores are still not settled between these two.

They will have stiff competition from the other teams who are all eager to win the prestigious championship. And there is newcomer, Willows Bank Cricket Club, who has issued a challenge to the champion!

I intend to bring you regular update of the progress of the competition.You no doubt will hear a lot about players like Ben Robinson, Garett Banner, Kevin Flowers, Lyle Tillett, Llewellyn Sutherland, Jerome Wade, Albert Wade, Harrison Parks, Alburn Rivero and David Banner, who are all top players in this competition.
