Kerala crawl along on wet Day Two Staff Reporter - 27 December 2001
Amidst rain interruptions and pitch inspections, Kerala crawled to 175/7 on Day Two of their Ranji Trophy league match against Tamil Nadu at Chennai on Wednesday. Only 65.2 overs of play were possible on the day, and Kerala made 131 runs off them. L Balaji, for Tamil Nadu, took 5-56, scything through the batting line-up. K Rejith Kumar was the top-scorer for the visitors, making an unbeaten 40 off 59 balls. He was the only bright spark on the day, though. Kerala ended the day almost certain in the knowledge that, despite their poor batting performance, the weather had denied Tamil Nadu an outright win. Two days remain to be played, however, and the home side will be looking to make the most of them.
