Surrey's Cricket Chairman retires
Media Release - 14 December 2001
Vic Dodds, Chairman of Cricket since 1996, has retired from the post after six years of outstanding success. He has presided over a reinvigorated Surrey side, which has won six major trophies in that time including back-to-back Championships in 1999 and 2000.
Richard Thompson has been appointed to succeed Vic with immediate effect. Richard has been on the General Committee for the past three years and a member since 1978. He has chaired three benefits and worked closely with the players over the past 10 years.
Michael Soper, Chairman of Surrey County Cricket Club, stated: "Vic was appointed Chairman of Cricket during difficult times at the Club. The support and commitment that he gave the Club and myself in particular was unbelievable, I wish him all the very best in the future. I am looking forward to working closely with Richard and I am sure that there will be many more successes at Surrey in the next few years."
